Our interfaith study this year will feature a discussion of the book The Misunderstood Jew: The Church and the Scandal of the Jewish Jesus by Amy-Jill Levine, in anticipation of Dr. Levine serving as our scholar-in-residence this spring (April 12-14) sponsored by Lamed Vav. Dr. Levine is professor of New Testament studies at Vanderbilt University Divinity School and co-editor of The Jewish Annotated New Testament recently published by Oxford University Press. Each month we will meet to discuss a chapter in her book, The Misunderstood Jew, which seeks to understand Jesus in the context of the first century Jewish community.
