Hadassah
Hadassah,
the largest women's organization in the US, was founded in
1912 by Henrietta Szold and is committed to making a
difference in the world. In Israel we help support two
hospitals, five schools, out-patient clinics, research
facilities and a community health center. Since 1936
Hadassah has worked hand in hand with the Jewish National Fund
to transform barren land into forests, farming, housing,
industry and recreation areas. Hadassah also publishes a
respected and informative monthly magazine.
Here
in the US, Hadassah promotes projects for women's health and
education with numerous study guides and programs. We
sponsor clubs, camps and Israel programs for our youth.
We advocate in Washington, DC on many concerns of women and
Jews in America. Hadassah is a bridge to peace, forging
links between people of all religions, creeds and political
beliefs.
Locally,
we have monthly meetings (except in the summer). We
usually meet
the third Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in members' homes.
The Temple bulletin carries a notice about our meetings,
including locations and other details. We've also
published the calendar of our meetings for the year below. We cordially
welcome newcomers to attend, visit and share in our many
programs.
For more information please contact our current president,
listed on the temple's
"Get Involved"
flier (PDF).
We offer a wide variety of events every year. We hope that you find these programs interesting
and sufficiently broad to meet your needs. A list of events is
also available on the Pacific Northwest Region Hadassah
website at http://www.hadassahpnw.org. Also, look for updates
in the Temple Beth El bulletin and weekly email.
