National Council of Jewish Women
The
National Council of Jewish Women, established in 1893 by
Hannah G. Solomon, sets goals for education and social
legislation. The national priorities are women's issues,
children and youth, Israel, constitutional rights, Jewish
life, and aging. NCJW's approach to these concerns is
through advocacy, education and community service.
At
the state level, NCJW is represented on the boards of
Washington Women United; and the Community Relations Council,
the Plea for Soviet Jewry. The Tacoma section, founded
in 1919, is involved in community service projects.
Funds are raised to fulfill unmet needs in the community.
