About Us

The Twelve Tribes of Israel

In Temple Beth El's chapel can be found 12 colorful wall hangings which represent the symbols of the 12 tribes of Israel--Reuben, Simon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulon, Dan, Gad, Naphtali, Asher, Joseph, and Benjamin--handworked in applique.  The banners were designed by Analee Reutlinger in 1982 and contain fabric donated from the lives of TBE congregants.  They were commissioned for Temple Beth El by Adelyn and Warren Barde in memory of her mother, Anna Meier Sigel.  Please note:  this artwork is copyrighted material.
